Understanding Pimples Scarring

If you have or have had Pimples, you may be concerned about Pimples scarring.  Besides the annoying breakouts, the scarring left behind is one of the biggest concerns of both adults and teenagers suffering from the condition.  There are several types of Pimples scarring that can result in unsightly marks that can be difficult to get rid of.

There are several different forms of Pimples scarring that have been seen by medical professionals studying the condition.  Different types of scarring are the result of different types of Pimples conditions, and may need different types of treatment in order to reduce or eliminate their appearance.

Ice pick Pimples scarring causes the skin to look like it has been stabbed with an ice pick, resulting in large, deep, open-looking pores.  If a pimple becomes inflamed or infected, or a cyst forms as a result of the Pimples, this type of scarring is often seen.

Pimples pit scarring is also caused by pimples or cysts, but is more likely to be seen if these cysts or pimples are squeezed or otherwise destroyed.  The resulting scar appears depressed and sunken, and may be a different color than the surrounding skin.

If several pimples or cysts occur in the same area or close together, you may see raised Pimples scarring.  The scarring of the individual cysts causes the tissue around it to callous and become raised, creating a mass on the skin’s surface.
Since Pimples scarring can be such a physical effect, if you have Pimples you want to try to avoid it.  Try to see your doctor or dermatologist when bad breakouts occur for treatment.  You should also avoid damaging the Pimples pimple by squeezing, picking, or pinching, since this can push the bacteria and infection deeper and make scars worse.

If you already have scarring, you may be able to reduce or eliminate it.  There are some products such as peels and creams that you can purchase over the counter that are designed to soften scar tissue and improve the overall look of your skin.  For severe cases, you should see your dermatologist for treatment.  You may need a prescription treatment, of something a little stronger.  Dermabrasions, collagen injections, and laser treatments have all been used successfully on Pimples damaged skin.

If you prefer to go the more natural route, there are some vitamins and minerals that you can take to try to fight Pimples scarring.  Some treatments like vitamin C and E, as well as iron, have been shown to be effective.

Overall, the best treatment for Pimples scarring is to prevent it from happening in the first place.  Sometimes, all it takes is a simple change in your diet or face cleaning routine to get rid of Pimples.  Other times, Pimples may be the cause of an underlying hormone imbalance.  If you get more than the occasional breakout, or see that your Pimples is starting to scar, see your dermatologist as soon as possible to determine the treatment that is best for you.
